Sunrise Landfill is a closed public landfill located in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada. It has been in operation since 1952. The facility is projected to close in 1993. The facility is operated by Republic Services, Inc. and owned by Clark County Department of Public Works, NV. As of 1993, the facility holds approximately 18,000,000 tons of waste in place — approximately 96% of its total permitted capacity. Its total design capacity is 18,834,924 tons. The annual waste acceptance rate is approximately 448,451 tons per year. The site covers approximately 400 acres. The facility operates a landfill gas collection system, and has an low potential landfill gas-to-energy project.
