About This Facility

Description

Centralia LF is a closed public landfill located in Centralia, Lewis, Washington. It has been in operation since 1958. The facility is projected to close in 1994. The facility is operated by Lewis County Public Services. As of 1994, the facility holds approximately 1,769,760 tons of waste in place. The annual waste acceptance rate is approximately 40,000 tons per year. The site covers approximately 55 acres. The facility operates a landfill gas collection system, and has an operational landfill gas-to-energy project. The project uses Leachate Evaporation technology. Capturing landfill gas reduces greenhouse gas emissions and, in many cases, generates clean renewable energy.
