The facility accepts approximately 74,937 tons of waste per year based on the most recent annual data. At the current rate of fill, the facility is projected to reach capacity and close around 1998.

Pecan Prairie Landfill has an LFG energy project with a current status of 'Low Potential'. The facility generates approximately 0.3 mmscfd of landfill gas. Landfill gas recovery projects capture methane that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and in many cases generating electricity or other usable energy.
