About This Facility

Description

Palmetto Landfill is a closed private landfill located in Wellford, Spartanburg, South Carolina. It has been in operation since 1979. The facility is projected to close in 2016. The facility is operated by WM. As of 2015, the facility holds approximately 22,938,750 tons of waste in place. The annual waste acceptance rate is approximately 87,748 tons per year. The site covers approximately 196 acres with a maximum depth of 88 feet. The facility operates a landfill gas collection system, and has an operational landfill gas-to-energy project.
