As of 2001, Bristol has approximately 400,000 tons of waste in place. The facility accepts approximately 10,000 tons of waste per year based on the most recent annual data. At the current rate of fill, the facility is projected to reach capacity and close around 2002.

Bristol has an LFG energy project with a current status of 'Low Potential'. Landfill gas recovery projects capture methane that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and in many cases generating electricity or other usable energy.

Bristol does not currently have an active landfill gas collection system. Landfill gas is produced naturally as organic waste decomposes underground. Facilities without active collection systems may use passive venting to manage gas migration. Future LFG collection projects may be considered as the volume of waste in place increases.
